Orientation and Guarantee Forms

Sorry for not updating much, life has been pretty busy.  About a month ago I had my orientation, which wasn’t anything big like most people may expect.  This is mostly due to the fact that there are only 2 people from my district going on exchange including me, so it would just be impractical to do weekend team building type things like you often see.  That being said, it was very informative.  We just went over rules, mostly things we had already heard, but it was good to have them reinforced.  We also were taught what to do in certain situations that may occur while we were on exchange, and we talked about things like packing tips.  Orientation is mandatory for every RYE student, and it’s taken pretty seriously because it basically lets everyone know that you have been completely introduced to every rule in the program, holding you liable for any that you break.

I’ve also gotten a lot more information about how my life in Croatia will be.  I will be going to a small school in Zagreb, which is located at a short distance from where I’ll be living and is across the street from my host parents’ office.  Plus, it’s in the very center of the city, which is awesome!  I’m not going to school with any of the other exchange students (at least that I know of, since there’s 5 we haven’t found yet), but I am close in distance to quite a few so I’m sure I’ll be spending a lot of time with them.  I Skype with the other exchange students pretty often, which is nice!

My mom talked on the phone to my first host mother for a few hours yesterday, but they were having problems with their Skype.  They will be Skyping us soon so I can talk to the family, so I’ll update when that happens!
